Sending Love to Paris

Heartbroken along with all the world as we watched this sacred, beautiful cathedral burn today. I spent a truly magical Christmas eve midnight mass there when I lived in Paris. I could feel the history and sacredness palpably in the air. Centuries and centuries of tradition and ritual and ceremony and history and art up in flames. But many gather outside tonight to kneel and to sing, so beauty already returning even as she still burns. These are sacred centers (no matter the religion) where we find sanctuary and comfort in ancient rituals and ceremonies.
